Paint correction fixes
Paint correction is machine polishing that levels the clear coat to remove swirl marks, haze and light scratches. It changes how the paint looks. Deep scratches that go through the clear coat can't always be polished out, and a good detailer tells you that up front.
- One-step correction (from $550): a single polishing stage. Good for newer cars or paint in decent shape.
- Two-step correction (from $1,150): a heavier compounding stage, then polishing. For darker cars with lots of wash marks.
Ceramic coating protects
A ceramic coating is a hard, slick layer bonded to the paint. It doesn't remove defects. It makes the paint glossier, easier to wash and more resistant to grime, salt and water spots.

Which comes first?
Correction always comes first. The coating locks in whatever is under it, so coating swirled paint means locking the swirls in for years.
Which one do you need?
- Swirls bother you, protection doesn't matter much: paint correction.
- New car or paint already looks great: ceramic coating, possibly with a light polish first.
- You want it to look right and stay that way: correction, then coating.

Common questions
Can I get a ceramic coating without paint correction?
Yes, if the paint is already in good shape, like on a new car. If there are visible swirls, we'll recommend correcting first.
Will paint correction remove every scratch?
No. Scratches that go through the clear coat can't always be polished out. We'll tell you what's realistic before starting.
